Academic Mentor application

Share what got you through O/L and A/L with the students sitting them now. Open to undergraduates in any field, three short steps, and you'll need your results to hand.

What does an Academic Mentor do?

  • Helping students with the subjects they need support with

  • Sharing study methods and exam tips

  • Giving students motivation and encouragement

  • Sharing practical ways to handle exam stress

  • Helping students build study schedules and timetables

  • Sharing your own academic experience and what worked for you

Mentoring is academic support, not counselling

Academic Mentors help with subjects, study habits, and exam preparation. You are never expected to give mental health support, and you will never be asked to. If a student you're mentoring needs more than study help, you pass it to the team, who will point them to the right place.

The Soul Care is not a crisis intervention service and does not provide therapy, diagnosis, or emergency mental health care. Peer listening support is non-clinical and educational in nature. If you need professional help, please contact a licensed mental health professional, a hospital, or call the National Mental Health Helpline on 1926 (free, 24/7).

Apply to mentor

Everything here goes straight to our team. We review every application and contact shortlisted applicants about next steps.

Step 1 of 3Basic information

Mentoring is open to undergraduates in any field of study. What matters here is the O/L and A/L results behind the subjects you would support.

Mentors are contacted directly by students, so your WhatsApp number is shown on our mentor lists, WhatsApp groups, and official channels. If that isn't something you're comfortable with, tell us below and we'll talk it through with you.
